The Countdown Is On

Trains will start running on the 3.2km length of elevated rail between Grange and Poath roads from Monday 18 June, via two new stations at Carnegie and Murrumbeena. Hughesdale Station will open later in the year.

An electronic message board has been placed at the Murrumbeena Road level crossing counting down the number of days drivers will be sitting and waiting in traffic, before it is removed forever. On posting this the count is down to two days!

Construction of the new Murrumbeena Station is progressing well in readiness to open on Monday 18 June. All sections of the station canopy have been installed. Project teams are building the track and overhead wiring masts.

On opening, access to the station will be via temporary stairs. Buses will operate between Oakleigh and Caulfield for people with shopping jeeps, prams and for passengers with special needs.

After opening, more works will take place to complete Murrumbeena Station, including installing lifts and escalators and some service buildings.

Very exciting times in Murrumbeena Village!
