One year ago, Murrumbeena Village welcomed a new face, and a new nightlife hotspot. Before the arrival of Murrumbeena Wine Bar, many residents had been pining for a licensed venue to unwind with friends and listen to live music. In 2019, locals were excited to find that their days of waiting were over. Thanks to a 20-year dream and a keen taste in wine, Murrumbeena became the home to Murrumbeena Wine Bar and its owner Ericka, who decided that the old Wardrop’s Buildings would be a good place to carry out her vision.
Murrumbeena Wine Bar not only sources products from independent Australian wineries and breweries but also collaborates with and supports surrounding local businesses in the Village. So for the first birthday of MWB we want to show our appreciation for Ericka and all the staff who have helped make our little suburb a bit more lively. Jodi (Moss & Maple), Harry (LEVI), Erin (The Alleyway Cartel), Evan (Versus Merch), Marta (Three Little Bakers) and Dan & Ann teamed up to gift Ericka with some flowers from Moss & Maple and express their congratulations.
Despite numerous hardships this year, Murrumbeena Wine Bar has continued to provide delicious cocktails, wines and beers as well as a sense of community with virtual events such as a wine tasting series, live music streaming and even a cooking class. This coming Saturday is a virtual wine tasting with Dino Giammarino. It’s one year down for MWB with, we expect, many more years to come. We at Murrumbeena Village look to the future with high hopes, and anticipate the day we can all sit down and have a cocktail or a grazing board at the Wine Bar together.
