Tell us about your business!
In 2019 Murrumbeena Wine Bar was created. A cosy, casual, local wine bar where people gather for lovely wine, delicious grazing boards and good times, where service comes with a friendly smile. Murrumbeena Wine Bar showcases boutique, family-run Australian wineries, breweries and distilleries. Supporting local producers is something we are passionate about. A neighbourhood bar with personality and heart, hoping to reopen the doors for our local community.
Why Murrumbeena?
Murrumbeena was my first preference, growing up in East Bentleigh and looking to move to Murrumbeena, I knew there was a need for a local bar in the area. I jumped at the chance to inspect the space right across from Murrumbeena Station.
What makes your business unique?
Love focusing on small local producers, love the stories behind the labels.
If you could speak to your younger self, what advice would you give?
Don’t wait 20 years to go for your dream, go for it now!
What is the funniest experience you’ve had here?
There’s been quite a few funny moments, but one that stands out is we were having an extremely quiet Sunday and we had a new musician just about to start playing to an empty room so I told my staff to take off their aprons, pour themselves a beer, take a seat and enjoy the music! They loved that shift! Another funny day was when the Fathers group of a local primary school stopped in for their annual pub crawl, it ended up being the busiest Happy Hour period on record and we ran out of beer!
